Played the first round of the club matchplay tourney today. Got paired up with Scotty P. I was giving him a couple of shots on 2 & 18. It was a great match. Scott caught on fire early. He birdied 3 of the first 4 holes and parred #2 with a stroke. So, in effect he was 4 under thru 4. I was even par after 4 and i was 4 down.
I slowly clawed my way back into it with a few birdies of my own. In the end, I pulled the mongoliam reversal and beat him 4 & 2. It was pretty cool. Don’t know who I will be playing next. We’ll see.
I leave on Tuesday night for the National Father Son Classic in Myrtle Beach. Me & My father and his brother Curtis and my cousin Brent are all playing. We are playing a practice round on Wednesday and then the tournament the next three days. The format is interesting with round 1 best ball, round 2 alternate shot, and round 3 scramble. It will be a blast and I am really looking forward to the time with my dad. I will keep you posted.

Me and a couple of buddies got to play some good fun golf in destin florida last week. We were down there on vacation with the families and the wives gave us a kitchen pass to play golf so we did. The first course we played was Kelly Plantation. It was also the nicest of the three we played. The course sits on the bay and has some very cool holes. The coolest is the fourth hole which juts out into the bay. I missed about a 6 foot birdie, but was happy with a par. My two buddies, Scott and Jeff had a little tougher time with the bermuda greens. In the end, I shot a 75. Scott had a 78. And Jeff had a 99…
Next we played Regatta Bay. We were informed that it was the #5 course in the nation by the guard at the gate. I was a little surprised by that. I guess its Augusta National, Pine Valley, Pebble Beach, Shinnecock, and Regatta Bay!!! Well, alas, it is not really the number 5 course in the USA, but it probably is the #2 course in Destin. We had a good time there. Didn’t like it as much as Kelly Plantation – partly because of a large number of blind tee shots. I shot a 76 and Scott had a 79.
The last course we played was seaside Bay(?) I believe that was the name. Anyways, it was a muni that was pretty rough. One cool thing was we got paired up with a guy that looked just like Peyton Manning. He could have been his twin brother. The course was pretty easy, but not in too great shape. And there was this horrible smell on several of the holes. In the end, I had a 77 and Scott had a 78. We were sad to be finished.
